life begins at the edge of your comfort zone
“Life begins at the edge of your comfort zone” Neale Donald Walsh
I have this quote swimming around in my head as I step into 2017. Intense pain over the last few weeks has been an unintended foray out of my comfort zone and into the realm of major and sometimes very frightening discomfort. It has humbled me and forced me to grind to a halt; to simply rest. This ‘discomfort’ has been teaching me a little more about how to take better care of myself and how to enjoy a gentler pace. Thankfully I have had a peaceful place for this, as I came home to spend Christmas with my Mam in Ireland.
As I prepare for my next steps in this journey exploring Eco-communities, I am aware that I am consciously choosing to step outside my own comfort zone; consciously choosing to move beyond what is familiar and opening to the adventure of continuing to explore different ways of living.
Life is most definitely different beyond the comfort zone. I am learning that it requires recognising when to rest, it requires having good support and good friends and it requires learning to take loving care of your heart. I am still learning on the heart front and feel deeply blessed and grateful on the friendship front for all those who have been there for me in the last year. A year ago this journey did not feel in anyway possible, I was stuck, and could not see what might come next in life. What a difference a year can make! I am profoundly grateful to have mustered up the courage to make a change and leap into this adventure and I am grateful for that part of me that holds the torch of a dream that sometimes feels insane: to follow my heart with the intention to offer my creativity in community.
So, I am grateful for this life beyond the comfort zone, and I look forward to sharing where it takes me next. In the meantime to all of you and very especially to all my lovely friends, I am wishing you a wonderful joy-filled year where you are supported and loved as you step, leap and dance out of your comfort zone and into new, creative, nourishing and joy-filled ways of exploring your lives. I look forward to meeting you along the way!
